Hey guys,
Hope you are all doing well!
Recently i’ve been struggling with excessive oily/greasy hair and it’s driving me crazy because i don’t know what to do. The real problem is that even when i shampoo my hair, i feel that it isn’t completely clean as it dries up to be greasy and gets oily in 1-2 days. Unless i shampoo my hair twice ( which i’ve heard is not good for your hair), it remains greasy.
History:
I want to clarify that this only started happening a few months ago, before that my hair was completely normal, it would be fresh and clean once i shampooed and only became oily in 3-4 days and that is why i’m so feeling so frustrated and helpless as i can’t figure out what is going on!
Remedy?!
Now obviously i tried finding a remedy for this on the internet and also the possible causes but didn’t have much luck. The only thing that a made a difference to my hair is putting Apple cider vinegar in it after shampooing and i would definitely recommend this to any of you guys out there suffering from greasy/oily hair. It made my hair super smooth and soft and also got rid of alot of the greasiness, but still it didn’t get my hair back to the way it used to be.
Need help:
I would really appreciate it if you guys could leave me with some suggestions of what i could do to fix this greasy hair problem. I barely use alot of hair product so it’s definitely not because of product buildup. I can’t even seem to figure out the cause so that makes it even harder to know the solution. Maybe some of you guys are having a similar problem or some of you guys have gone through something similar and found a solution!
It would be so helpful if you guys could tell me in the comments any remedies or products that would be helpful in this situation and if any one of you have a similar problem, let me know that too!
Thank you for reading!
Lots of love xx
There are 2 options you can consider:
1. Post wash, rinse your hair with mixture of one teaspoon apple cider vinegar in one glass of water. This should be last rinse, don’t rinse after this. The smell of acv will gradually fade.
2. Use dry shampoo that doesn’t build up. It removes oiliness to a great extent.
Hope this helps!!! (Self experience)

Thanks a lot for the recommendation!💕
I’ve tried ACV and it did make a huge difference but just not enough. I’ll keep using it though, hopefully the greasiness will go away with time!
And I’ll try to find a good dry shampoo as well. Which one do you use?

Dry shampoo will soak up oil immediately. I’m sure you’ll want a better remedy, but in the meantime a dry shampoo will def help. Dove makes an awesome one. I had a greasy hair emergency at work, ran to the store on my break, bought and used the dove dry shampoo and my coworkers thought I went and got a blow out. I was impressed with the dove one and I’ve tried many. Good luck!!! Lmk if you figure out a permanent solution

Hmm, if this suddenly happens, would it because of your lifestyle or environment changed? Like food you start eating or weather. I have normal hair and oily scalp so I wash my hair every day and try to let them air-dry. I use dry shampoo in the day when I have bangs.
I hope you can find remedies that help. By the way, I notice if I touch my hair or head more, it gets oily faster. Try not touch your hair in the day. Good luck!

Maybe it’s because of the weather, but it wouldn’t make sense for my hair to oily in the winter! I will try out some other remedies and see
Actually I do tend to touch my hair a lot more than I should 😄, I should probably work on that.
Thanks for the suggestion ❤️

I have super greasy hair, too! I haven’t tried any natural remedies, but I’ve found shampooing my scalp twice and continually rotating my shampoo (I have like four on rotation, lol) since your hair could get used to it and produce more oil. Hope this helps a little!
By the way, I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award and Sunshine Blogger Award on my blog 🙂

Yeahh I’ve tried shampooing my hair twice and it does make a big difference!
I’ll try rotating my shampoo around, that sounds interesting and I think it would be helpful! Thanks so much for the suggestion and the nomination, means a lot! ☺️❤️

Is your skin more oily because they say the scalp mimics the skin on your face. I imagine it’s hormonal unless you have changed anything in your lifestyle. It sounds weird, but I met a celebrity hairdresser who told me every night, massage your scalp for about 15minutes and it actually makes a huge difference to your hair. Try and find something natural and make sure you lift all your roots and give an extra massage as you wash. Be careful overbuilding with dry shampoo because it can build up easily on your scalp. (I know not the world’s greatest advice) but it hope it helps. xx

My skin on the face is actually more on the dry side, I haven’t changed anything drastically in my lifestyle so maybe it is hormonal
Also that sounds like a really cool tip, I actually try to always massage the shampoo on my scalp as I’ve heard that helps too
I’ll try going for more natural products as you’ve suggested!
Thanks a lot for these tips, they are quite helpful 💕💕

If you haven’t been eating more dairy or making changes, it’s most likely hormonal. It can even be defiencies in your diet. I would start massaging more, try and go deeper into the roots and spend more time rinsing, and cut back on dairy which can add to oil. See in a few weeks if it changes. Fingers crossed! 🙂

Hey girl! I used to have the same problem. How often do you wash your hair? Try washing your hair every 3rd day. I wash mine on Sundays and Wednesdays. I dont bother washing on Saturday, although that would be the third day, because I am going to wash on Sunday. Try using Hempz Volumizing Shampoo. You may not need the volume, but i find this really helps. Use about a pump in all of your hair, wait about a minute, and wash it out. If you use the conditioner, or any conditioner, only apply it to the last few inches of your hair. You should not be using it in the area around the crow of your head, that is too close to the roots. I hope this advice helps. It is what really helped me! Good luck!

Heyy!
I wash my hair twice a week but they still get oily super fast
I’ll try washing them three times a week then which means Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday
Also where would I be able to get this shampoo? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in shops and I definitely want to try it out
I stopped conditioner altogether since my hair has become so oily/greasy!
Thanks a lot for this advice, it’s really helpful! ❤️

I bought the shampoo from Beauty Brands. If you dont have a store, try ordering it online. They have a liter sale where the liter version of this shampoo will be about $12 or $13! Its a good deal and great time to stock up!

Youll notice most if not all hairdressers will shampoo twice when you have your hair washed in salon. It is recommended to do, as one never cleans the hair and scalp completely which is what is needed especially when oil is building up. I personally think it is usually due to hormonal and changes in the body but topical things can help, such as targeted haircare such as scalp benifits or Pramasana. You need to have a good scalp environment for your hair to thrive in. Harsh chemicals are not always good, so opt for a more naturl haircare range. But everyone is different and what works for one person will not always work for someone else.

That’s an amazing tip! I have started shampooing my hair twice since I had this issue and it helped so so much! My hair feels fresh and clean after every wash and I can’t go back to washing it only once!
I agree, it could have something to do with hormonal changes! xx
