Simple Ways to Practice Self Love

For the longest time, I didn’t understand what people meant when they said ‘Love Yourself’, and I subconsciously used to convince myself that I do in fact love myself. Recently, however; I have understood the meaning of loving myself on a much deeper level and have practiced ways of being more loving and accepting towards myself and it has made a huge positive difference in my attitude towards myself, others and life in general. I want to share with you guys 5 simple ways by which you  too can practice self love and create a much happier outlook towards life!

IMG_3638Be comfortable in your own company:

Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, I believe its important to spend time on your own so that you can get to know yourself and hence love yourself. Being  comfortable in your on company will give you power as you wont have to define your happiness by other people’s company. Being heavily dependent on others company can often lead you to feel sad and disappointed if things don’t work out the way you planned and after all, if there is one person in the world you can truly depend on, its yourself!

Feed your soul:

Find something you love to do or are extremely passionate about and do it! For me, that would be doing makeup or blogging and whenever I am alone, I love doing either of those things as they make me feel happy and proud of myself. By doing this, you create your own little happy place where you can go to connect with your self and that’s what self love is all about.

Stop comparing:

Let’s be honest, most of us are guilty of this and its about time we stop doing it. I still struggle with this but i have become so much better at training my mind to not let the negative thoughts sink in. It’s especially hard to love yourself in the world of social media, where everyone’s life seems perfect. Instead of hating on other people’s success, focus on your strengths and qualities and use that energy to motivate and inspire you to get where you want to. Remember the grass is always greener on the other side. Life is too short to waste it wanting to be someone else so embrace yourself with flaws and make the most of this life.

Take care of yourself:

I don’t know about you, but I feel 10 times better when I pamper and look after myself. When I look good, I instantly feed good. Take care of you mental and physical health by relaxing (meditating/taking a bath), doing something you enjoy, maintain a healthy eating balance. We take care of people in our lives whom we love, so in order to love ourselves we must take care of ourselves too.

Be grateful:

I strongly believe that this is something that can completely change your outlook on life. There might be million of things that you want but don’t have; however, I promise you that there are a million more things that you have but just seem to forget about. Practice being grateful for the littlest things in life and being grateful for who you are and where you are. I strongly believe that you attract what you give to the universe, so if you give positive energy, good things will definitely come your way.

  2. This was therapeutic to read. I could not agree more with every piece of advice that you wrote. I think people mix self-love with arrogance or narcissism but there is a huge difference. We have to respect that our own lives as important as the next, and do things for us like pampering, being comfortable alone and pursuing our own dreams. Thank you for such a wonderful article! x

    1. Thanks girl! 💗
Yeah I agree. I guess at one spectrum we have those people who don’t think they are worthy at all and on the other we have people who think so highly of themselves that it comes off as narcissistic.
And yes, it’s a great feeling knowing you are enough and you don’t NEED anyone else to complete you!
      You’re welcome! xx

  3. I love this! So much respect for you to admit that you need to practice this yourself- just as we all do. Thanks for reminding us all that it’s OK to be OURSELVES and not compare to others xx

  4. I tend to be happiest when I am doing stuff instead of thinking about doing stuff. When I’m thinking about my life, I think about mistakes I’ve made and goals I haven’t achieved. When I’m doing stuff, I hanging out with friends, working out, reading, and writing, and they all make me happy.

    1. Yess, I agreee!
That’s another thing I’ve learned in the past few years after starting this blog! In a way, this blog gives me something to do instead of sitting there and wondering how unproductive I’m being and all the things I could be doing with my life! Keeping yourself busy is so important when those negative thoughts start creeping in!

  6. Thank you so much for this post. It’s so so important to love yourself and to be on your own journey. I learnt being comfortable in my company a long time ago & fell in love with it even more when I went travelling. It helps you become a better person for yourself and the people around you. Monica @

    1. You’re welcome! 💕
That’s amazing, I’ve heard traveling alone is somethings every one needs to do, hopefully I too can do that someday! Thanks for reading girl! ♥️

    1. It the hardest but also the most harmful thing you can do to yourself mentally! It really can be hard but I try to focus on the fact that I’ve been given this one life and I’d rather live it loving myself rather waste my time wanting to be someone else! We are all different and that’s so beautiful! 💗

  7. Such a beautiful and relevant post. I love that you mentioned being comfortable with yourself not comparing. We spend too much time comparing ourselves to others and it’s no unrealistic!
    Love this post!
