5 Ways To Increase Your Blog Traffic!

Increased blog traffic is one of the many ways to make your blog successful and as bloggers, we want the content we put so much effort and hard work into, to be viewed and appreciated by as many people as possible. I will be sharing you all some of the ways that have personally helped me to increase the traffic on my blog tremendously and hopefully these can help you too!

Social Media

No matter how good your content is, if you are not promoting it through social media it might as well not exist. Promoting your blog takes time and effort but it is so worth it in the end. The best social media for promoting your blog in my opinion is Twitter and i kid you not, my views have literally doubled since i’ve started using it. Instagram is good too. Although i don’t get as much direct views from it, it is definitely worth using because brands love it and as your followers grow, so will the views on your blog. I don’t use Facebook or Pinterest; however i’ve heard many bloggers say how much Pinterest has helped their blog so my next goal is to start promoting my blog there as well.

Catchy Titles

You need to make sure that the title of your blogpost is catchy because that is ultimately what makes people click and decide if they want to read further or not.  Try to look at it from a third person perspective or take someone else’s opinion on if they they think the title is catchy enough. By no means should you do ‘clickbaits’ as that will only affect your blog negatively in the long term. Here are some tips:

  • Keep it short and focused
  • Use numbers- It lures people’s attention and tells them exactly how much they are going to get. “5 simple ways to..”, “10 reasons why…”
  • Use adjectives: Simple, Efficient, Unbelievable, Essential, Strange, Fun, Free.
  • Use trigger words such as “why”, “what”, “how” or “when”.

Be consistent

This seems quite self explanatory but the more times you post, the more views you will get. If you post consistently, your readers will be right there with you consistently reading your posts as opposed to if you post one time and then again months later, your views will definitely drop. I stick to posting 2 times a week as that is what is comfortable for me. Whatever you decide, just make sure you stick to a routine as it will let your readers know exactly when your post will be going up.

Visual Appeal

We are all visual creatures and incorporating good photos in your blog posts can substantially increase your blog views. Try making your feature image as aesthetically pleasing as possible because that’s what your audience will see at first before deciding whether or not to view your post.. Try as much as you can to use your own original photos instead of getting them off the internet at that gives your blog more of a personal feel.

Engage

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again- engagement is key. Think about, there are million of bloggers out there so how do you intend to stand out? Read other blogs, like, comment, share, join chats/pods/threads! There are so many ways to engage and once other bloggers know about you, they are more likely to visit your blog and read your posts regularly hence increasing your views, and hey you might just make some other blogger friends in  the process which is always nice!

What do you do to increase your blog traffic? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading! xx

  1. Instagram is one of social media platforms, as you can get creative with pretty photos and a short text to go a long 🙂 I love when bloggers take their own photos, instead for googling some instead. The photos by no means have to be perfect, but I’ll always prefer when people make an effort to post some original photos ❤

    1. Yeah, that’s what I love about Instagram, but my problem with it is that it’s so hard to gain genuine followers and it always seems so competitive! 😅
I totally agree, I love blogs that have original photos even if they are not the most professional ones! 💗

  2. This is such a useful post, thank you for sharing. I am going to repost it on to my blog – also I used to use the same theme as the one you are using now. Merry Christmas 🙂

      1. Okay so what helps the most for me is to take part in comment threads! There are blog accounts on twitters that host these comment swap threads weekly where you can share your blogposts with other bloggers and this way you comment on their posts and they comment on yours! Also taking part in blogger chats can be helpful! You can also tweet your blogpost and tag accounts on twitter that retweet blogposts so that will mean your post can be seen by a bigger audience! Hope that was helpful! 💗☺️

  3. Engagement seems to be the biggest thing that has worked for me. I would also like to add that bloggers can actually lose followers and views if they don’t engage with their readers. I’ve unfollowed a couple blogs so far for that reason. It gives off the vibe that they think they’re better than you or something, even if that’s not their intention. I’m not saying you have to reply back to every single comment or anything like that, but if you do notice particular readers steadily commenting on your blog, it wouldn’t hurt to check out some of their posts and leave a comment, as a way of showing appreciation. You are doing great in that aspect though because you have a lovely blog that is doing very well, and you give off a friendly vibe and seem engage with all your readers. 🙂

    1. Thank you Britney! That means so much to me! ♥️♥️
And yes I totally agree with you! I also have unfollowed a couple of blogs because they never seem to engage with their readers and that really demotivates me from reading their content or leaving a comment. Omg I do get that vibe from them, I thought it was just me haha!
Thanks so much for this lovely comment!!😘☺️

    1. Oh yeah, I’ve read some bloggers saying that they can’t seem to make Pinterest work for them so I’ve been a bit hesitant in trying it out! But I think it’s worth a try and as you mentioned takes time! ☺️💕

  4. Great tips! I agree that engaging with others and using social media is an excellent way to gain more readers 😍. If you figure out Pinterest I’d love to know what to do. I have an account but no idea how to use it to gain traffic to my blog. I really need to spend more time on it 😄. Fantastic post, thank you for sharing 😘 xx

    1. Haha! Same here, I’m very hesitant on using Pinterest because I have no idea how to promote my content there but I will surely figure it out and let you know! 😘

    1. Thank you Caroline! ☺️
I have kept my blog anonymous and still use social media such as twitter and Instagram. Just make a separate account for both and make sure not to follow anyone you know (even mutual friends)! This might sound extreme but if you are still paranoid that someone may find your account, just block them! They won’t know you have blocked them and they never be able to see your social media’s! xx

    1. Hi! I’m so glad this post could be helpful to you!
I would recommend following similar accounts as yours here on WordPress and engaging with them (liking and commenting on their posts)
Other than that social media is sooo helpful especially twitter as I mentioned in the post! If you have a twitter account take part in comment threads and chats! Hope that was helpful! If you need more help, you can message me on Instagram! Instagram.com/makeupmaniaccc 💕

  5. Hey,
I found this so so useful and I will definitely be trying these things out. Thank you so much!!
I blog over at https://girlalert.wordpress.com/. It’s just my little corner of the internet where I can be myself. I still prefer to be anonymous for security and it allows me to express myself more freely without backlash or embaressment. I talk about my feelings, experiences, motivation, advice pretty much anything and everything. It’s a platform where everyone can be themselves and voice their opinion without shame of being self-conscious. My posts are meant to be reassuring because I know that often I feel like I am alone against the world and that only I feel a certain way but by exposing myself other can connect to my material and know that they aren’t alone and that they can get through this.

Oh by the way I love your way of writing and communicating, in fact I followed 😉

    Love,
    Girlalert xxx
I would love for you to check it out and I would love to hear your views on it.
